After every book club meeting, an MVP is chosen. The rules of the selection are simple, straightforward, and meritorious. As voted by a majority of Book Club members, the individual who contributed the most to the overall meeting is crowned the MVP of that meeting. This contribution is a subjective calculation, and includes, but is not limited to, that member’s contribution to the discourse, planning, activities, and overall experience of the weekend.

A new rule of the MVP selection process is that the Host of a particular weekend cannot be voted the MVP. This rule exists because the city host of a particular weekend always has the edge as the central planner of that meeting. The MVP winner has his name etched into the Book Club MVP Trophy, which remains in his possession for the next 6 months.

In several of the earliest book club MVP votes, Max Goodman was runner-up. He was really sad, but finally won the trophy at the fourth meeting. Billy Grenis was also consistently been a runner-up for the MVP trophy. He still is incredibly bitter about it, but finally won the trophy at the fifth meeting. The first lady of Texas, Cecilia Abbott, is the current MVP. But who will win the trophy at BBC#9? Time will tell.
