Meeting #10: Beyond Book Club Nashville
November 7, 2019 – November 10, 2019

For the 10th ever book club gathering (!!!), the boys of book club got together in beautiful Nashville, Tennessee. Since it was the 10th gathering, and still the wood anniversary (5 years from our founding), the book club was determined to make this trip a special, memorable one.

The book club arrived Thursday evening on November 7th, and commenced the crucial and classic Thursday night welcome hangout. Friday, it was up early for the Run Club, to hit the scenic streets of Nashville. The non-runners enjoyed a great sleep in.

To kick off the weekend, the book club descended on Arnold’s Country Kitchen for some down home bbq lunch. Review: it was delicious!

After that, it was time for a must-visit spot in Nashville, the Country Music Hall of Fame.

After a lovely trip through the history of country music, the lads returned to their AirBnB, and had their first book discussion (a conversation about The Sympathizer, by Viet Thanh Nguyen) followed by a night on the town sampling the finest honky tonk bars Nashville had to offer. There was dancing, there was country music, and a fun time was had by all.

Saturday, November 9th kicked off with the only way it could – some Hattie B’s classic Nashville hot chicken! The line was around the block, but boy oh boy was it worth it.

After filling up on some truly hot chicken, the book club took in another important historical and musical monument – Ryman Auditorium.

After another book discussion (this time – Asymmetry by Lisa Halliday), it was once again time for a night in Nashville. This time however, the boys boarded one of Nashville’s famed party buses and rode the streets of Music City.

On Sunday, the book club departed it’s 10th ever meeting. And what a weekend it was!
